Gangster Vegan: Philadelphia, PA
I was recommended to this delicious food truck by fellow Philly podcaster Miz 100, one half of the Philadelphia-based Hood Geniuses Podcast. The Gangster Vegan food truck is located directly across the street from the Starbucks at Broad and Ontario (by the way, Miz gives great directions lol). My boss and I traveled from Broad and Bainbridge (if you're familiar with Philadelphia you know that's lowkey a hike for some food.. but when you're a foodie, #WillTravelForFood is more than a hashtag; it's a way of life).
I decided to get the Ay Papi burrito bowl, which includes: brown rice (can be subbed with quinoa), romaine (I subbed with kale), black beans, walnut taco meat, pico de gallo, pickled jalapeno, avocado, cashew nacho cheeze, and cilantro date dressing.
My meal was vibrant, flavorful, and had a spiciness that wasn't overwhelming. The pickled jalapeno was balanced out well by the cashew nacho cheeze. The food is made to order and everything is fresh!
I told Jorge that I have a food blog and wanted to feature Gangster Vegan; he was more than happy to take a quick flick. After checking out the Instagram page for the food truck I found they have locations in Norristown, Phoenixville and Media, as well as two locations in Maryland (one of them being Baltimore).
The food truck's menu has been shortened, but there is a much larger menu offered at the storefront locations. I look forward to coming back to the food truck to try other items on their menu, as well as traveling to the other locations!
