Anna’s House: Westland, MI
For the first weekend of November I traveled to Detroit for a celebration of my friend BJ's 35th birthday. It was now Sunday afternoon and the trip was coming to an end; myself, BJ and his girlfriend Dionne needed some great eats before my departure. Dionne suggested Anna's House, and after a peek at the menu on their website I had nothing but high expectations for this place.
We ate breakfast at the Westland location, which is about a 30 minute drive from downtown Detroit (on the west side of the city) and a 15 minute drive from DTW (Detroit's airport). Anna's House has multiple locations in Michigan: Holland, Beltline, Westland, Kalamazoo, Grandville, Plainfield, Ann Harbor, and Farmington Hills.
The lobby and dining areas are vibrant and welcoming.
Dionne, BJ and I were able to skip the estimated 30-40 minute wait and sit at this cute countertop space.
Anna's House is definitely one of those places that you need to visit multiple times in order to truly experience what they have to offer! It took me forever to decide what I wanted; the menu is so robust. They even have a vegan menu.
I ordered the Hippie Hash: slow roasted cauliflower, broccoli, carrots, cabbage, radish, beets, garlic, ginger and brown rice served over red skinned potatoes and topped with two eggs, Monterey jack cheese, a dollop of sour cream and alfalfa sprouts, and toast.
Dionne and BJ ordered the chipotle shrimp & grits with turkey bacon, banana walnut pancakes with chicken sausage & eggs, and banana pecan French toast with eggs & corn beef hash.
WE ALL LOVED OUR FOOD. I was so sad I couldn't take my leftovers to go.
